The Startup Boom: India’s Innovation Decade
India has emerged as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally, with over 110 unicorns and counting. From fintech to edtech to deeptech, Indian entrepreneurs are solving for India — and the world.
The journey from being a service economy to a product nation is well underway. We are no longer just outsourced tech labor; we are building original solutions, frameworks, and platforms.
The next phase requires deeper innovation. We need more bets in semiconductors, quantum computing, biotechnology, and space technology. These are capital-intensive, long-gestation areas that require patient capital and government support.
Most importantly, we must address the gap between Tier-1 city startups and the rest of India. The Bharat opportunity — solving problems for the 800 million in Tier 2-3 cities and rural areas — is the next frontier.
