In a major medical breakthrough, Indian researchers at IIT-Bombay and Tata Memorial have developed an indigenous CAR-T cell therapy for blood cancers at a fraction of the global cost.
The new therapy has shown remission rates of over 70% in clinical trials and will be available to Indian patients at one-tenth the cost of similar treatments abroad.
The innovation puts India on the global map for advanced cell-based therapies and is expected to benefit thousands of cancer patients annually.
